This situation seems to get more painful each week as certain events unfold it seems we are finding ourselves in a period of consolidation in the financial industry. This is shaping out to be a major shakedown and could go down in history as a landmark event. Any ideas what this crisis will be called? anything more interesting than the Credit Crisis.

It seems the question of who will make it out of this mess independent is widening to Several institutions and the fate of Lehman Brothers Holdings files Chapter 11. The B of A and ML tie up was unlikely and very surprising, seeing how that unfolds will be quite interesting.

The question becomes how many of the investment banks remain independent through September.
